Your Opinion

We're already working on some new Scarlet Thread product ideas, and we want to get your input.

What products do you want to see Scarlet Threads carry next?  What would you buy?

We thought we'd take a poll, so you can vote over to the right.  Poll closes on the 28th!

The choices are:
Child-Sized Coordinating Aprons - Already suggested by many people, this might be the clear front-runner.  If we did this, we'd probably start with child-sized versions of the Phoebe and Savannah aprons, though other suggestions are also welcome!

Hand-Made Chinese Children's Hats and Shoes - Made by a grandma in our village, each is one-of-a-kind, and made from colorful scraps of material with lots of hand sewn details.  They are certainly uniquely Chinese, though we're not sure how well they'd sell!  That's where your opinion comes in.

Pot Holders and Oven Mitts - We thought we might be able to make ones that coordinate with the aprons and have them quilted by some of our local ladies.

Tea Towels - We notice many talented embroiderers, so we thought we could make tea towels with familiar Chinese icons embroidered in the corner.  Things like bicycles or hawthorn candies on a stick.

Thanks for taking the time to vote.  We hope to have the new product begin production by the beginning of December!

  1. I voted for child apron first ... but the Chinese shoes and hats are adorable! I wanted to vote for them too. Not that I'm going to be able to order a pair large enough for anyone in my crew. But they would be a sweet gift or accent just for the home.

  4. I would be interested in the tea towels -especially to buy and save for Elizabeth for when she is older. :)

  5. I voted for the potholders/oven mitts...but I think the child sized matching aprons would go hand in hand! The child sized aprons is a neat adoption or baby gift alone or coupled with mom's apron. However the apron and matching potholders/mitts is also a great wedding gift!

The hats and shoes are adorable. I don't need the shoes at this point but to put them away for Evan's children would be really more special than words can say. Same with the hats. We'd go for the hats if they were toddler sized...but would need for them to have a closure as to not fall off and get lost. Again, this would be really nice to have for Evan's children...tea towels too!

  6. Well, you already know I would be amongst the first in line for a child-sized Savannah apron!!...But I also love the hats/shoes and the matching pot-holders and tea-towels. All great keepsakes and gift ideas!! :)

  8. I don't really wear aprons while cooking, but I love the hats and shoes. I tend to buy more unique kids items online that you can't find other places. Also, if they could be unique to China in some way it would be even more special to those of us adopting from China (maybe panda shoes, dragons for boys, etc.).

  9. I don't know what to choose, I think they're all great ideas. For myself I'd probably be more likely to buy the hat and shoes. But, the other items make great gifts...any of them. Is there any way you could find someone local that knits well? That way I could buy a knitted item and tell everyone that I finally finished my 4 inch scarf? Just a thought...I'm sure you could do the same with your 6 inch scarf.

  11. Oh my...how can we choose? I voted for the child-sized aprons...but I think the tea towels and shoes/hats and potholders would be good too!
(I do have trouble making simple decisions, by the way! ;)

  12. All are great ideas, but I'd vote for the matching aprons first and then the hats and shoes. I think those make wonderful display items if they aren't worn. Also--how about quilts or pillows? Or vests? Those could have embroidery or quilting like the hats and shoes.I have some that I bought and others given to us by students. I think that adoptive families are naturally most interested in your wares--so China themes with pandas or dragons, or adoption ladybugs would sell well.

  14. all are great but I voted for the hats and shoes because they are so very uniquely Chinese and we can't get ANYTHING like that here in the States.
I do agree that some shoes for toddlers and hats for toddlers/preschoolers would get a lot more orders I think :)
Thinking ahead to our next adoption and it won't likely be a baby..but a sweet toddler mei mei :)

  15. I'm not at home and it doesn't look like my last comment went through. I said that I love the hats and shoes b/c they are so uniquely Chinese and we can't get ANYTHING like that here in the States. I wish they would make toddler sized ones even preschool too.
Our mei mei will likely be a toddler :)

  19. My cousin just checked out your site and LOVED the merchandise. She says the only thing missing is a really neat "man's apron". Just thought I would pass along her idea...
