The US-based Scarlet Threads ladies and myself have been chatting via e-mail about a possible trip to the fabric market in the near future. Everybody seems to LOVE new aprons, and so we thought, "Why not make a few new ones?" The fruits of this excursion will be a bit more "limited edition" than our other styles, but as long as you're first in line to scoop one up, there's no problem in that!
I went to the fabric market on Thursday with my mom and Grandmother, who has been visiting our family here in China for the last week. She has a lot of fabric-experience and was a huge help! She even helped pick the fabrics for an apron that she says just screams "30's!" back when buying aprons was very popular.
If you're a fabric lover, than this picture is probably making you drool, right?
We searched through bolts and bolts of fabric, and sifted through piles of scraps.
We collected little squares of the fabrics that stood out to us for comparison.
We tried to judge the suitability of complimentary fabrics.
...and we laid down our favorites and talked about what to do with them.
...we fought over which fabrics went best with one another.
...and then, when we knew exactly what we wanted, we cut and purchased!
And then I had to lug the heavy bags of delicious fabric to our driver's car.
I just gave Deng Jie the fabric yesterday... samples will be coming soon!
